Cunard - For over 170 years now, Cunard ships have been plying the
world’s oceans mainly between the Old World and the New. Since its beginning
Cunard has been the dominate name in ocean travel, even today this company, its
storied history and its many ships are legendary. Such names as Britannia,
Lusitania, Mauretania, Carpathia, Caronia, the Queens; Queen Mary and Queen
Elizabeth, QE2 and now the magnificent Queen Mary 2 and her fleet mates the
Queen Victoria and the new Queen Elizabeth. Now-a-days Cunard’s product is all
about recalling the golden days of ocean travel on their modern fleet. The
experience is glamorous, fun and very distinctly Cunard. Cunard is our favorite
shipping line for their great ships, history and modern product.
Carnival - The largest and most popular cruise line in the world,
Carnival is all about fun. Starting off in the 70s with just one old ocean
liner (the Empress of Canada), the Mardi Gras, the line now has 22 “Fun Ships”
and 2 more on the way. Carnival was one of the first cruise lines to bring the
fun of cruising to the masses. In many ways they are responsible (or at least
partially so) for the current cruise industry. While the infamous interiors of
Carnival ships are quite a hot topic, most people agree that Carnival offers a
fun and consistently good product. They must…you don’t get to be the largest
and most popular for nothing.
Royal Caribbean - Easily the most innovative and forward thinking
cruise line, Royal Caribbean’s ships, which range from 70,000 to 225,000grt are
some of the greatest and most interesting around. RCI is all about the
amenities, be it a Florider surf simulator or a ice rink, RCI ships have many
things you won’t find anywhere else. The Oasis Class even has a real live park
onboard called Central Park. With over 20 ships (and more on order) RCI is
huge, very popular and has a ship for everyone. RCI also serves more
destinations then any other major line with ships based all over the world from
the Caribbean, Europe to China.
Celebrity - One of
the most sophisticated and stylish lines out there, Celebrity cruises is almost
like sailing in a boutique hotel at sea. The premium level cruise line has some
of the most beautiful and well appointed ships in the world, in fact
their newest class of ships, the Solstice Class, set new standards for the line
in terms of design and atmosphere. The Celebrity experience is up scale but at
the same time laid back, cool and trendy but tasteful. Under the Royal
Caribbean corporate umbrella, this line also benefits from the forwards
thinking of its parent. All of this helps it to deliver one of the great cruising
experiences in the modern industry.
